Fira, Santorini

The Greek island of Santorini and its capital, Fira offers spectacular views of the cliffs and predictably, pristine whitewashed buildings. It was only recently, that the capital of the island was moved from Pyrgos to Fira.  Fira perched on the edge of a cliff some 260m high offers not only superb panoramas over the submerged volcano but also the sheer beauty of the town’s architecture. Many of the white painted houses are juxtaposition against the blue domed churches.  The path along the cliff edge of the town offers spectacular views and stupendous sunsets. Fira also has a port that is used for cruise boats.
