Cappadocia

A spectacular landscape of Cappadocia contain some of the most amazingly sculptured by nature, rocks. While geographic events were and are forming strange rock formations, during the historical period, humans had carried the signs of thousand years old civilizations with carving houses and churches within these earth pillars.  Rock-hewn sanctuaries full of Byzantine art, dwellings, troglodyte villages and underground towns in the area are from the 4th century. Traditional Cappadocian houses and dovecotes carved into the stone at the foot of the mountain show the uniqueness of the region. Rock, which is the only construction material of the region is easy to process therefore unique masonry developed here and turned into an architectural tradition. With so much to see, no wonder that this  unique area has become one of the star attractions of Turkey.
