Uchisar

DSC 6565

The natural rock fortress of Uçhisar is the tallest point in Cappadocia. It haphazard structure is visible from a great distance. Positioned 1300 meters above the sea level Uçhisar is a very unusual Cappadocia’s village. It dominates the whole valley and offers breath taking views. Throughout history, the castle that was built in the Byzantine period was always the main point of defence for the Cappadocia region, now its main role is serving the tourists and providing them with fantastic hues of red on the distant Mt. Erciyes at sunset.
