Atheras beach is situated in the northwestern part of the Kefalonia island, in the small village near Lixouri. Amazing view and crystal clear waters make this a perfect place to visit while on Kefalonia. There is also a small marina of Porto Atheras and the chapel of Saint Spiridon to visit here. Near the picturesque beach of Atheras, there are traditional taverns serving fresh fish. Kounopetra is a coastal settlement lying 40 km south of Argostoli. The beach itself is considered a geological phenomenon as the huge rock is famed for its constant movement. The rock was moving every 20 minutes before the big earthquake in 1953, now the movement has dropped significantly.
