Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz is the capital of the Neumarkt district in the administrative region of the Upper Palatinate, in Bavaria, Germany. With its historical town centre, the large number of attractions and its lovely surroundings Neumarkt has a lot to offer: The town hall built in the late Gothic period, destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt in 1956/57, St Johannes church, like the town hall, built in the late Gothic period, castle ruins, a late Romanesque building from the13th century, Mariahilf church, a gem of Baroque architecture with impressive ornamental plasterwork by Johann Bajerna from Lombardy.
