Santorini Revisited

DSC 0300

It may be a cliché statement, but Santorini is one of the most spectacular Greek islands. The traditional villages are mostly built on tall cliffs and offer a breathtaking view over the submerged volcano. The island is the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history: the Minoan eruption that took place 3600 years ago and obliterated the Minoan civilization on the island of Crete situated some 110 km to the south through a tsunami. Santorini is truly perfect with plenty of villages of gleaming white-washed villages, cobbled streets and blue-domed churches. Apart from Oia nd Fira, there are many places to visit there and on the nearby smaller islands. To name a few,  Vilchada, Thirasia, Sellada, Red Beach, Profitis, Pirgos, Perissa, Palea Kameni, Nea Kameni, Megalochori, Kamari, Faros, Exo Gonia, Emporio, Caldera, Atlantida, Athinios and Akrotiri.
