Siena is the city in Tuscany; its historic centre has been declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site and is one of the nation’s most visited tourist attractions. Built on three hills and surrounded by well preserved walls, Siena is filled  with fine examples of Gothic architecture. Throughout the centuries, inhabitants preserved city’s Gothic appearance, acquired between the 12th and 15th centuries.The world’s most well known part of the town is Piazza del Campo.  World-known famous Palio, a festival and horse race takes place on the piazza  twice a year. A visit to the inside of the Gothic Duomo is highly recommended as the crypt, the baptistery and the Opera del Duomo museum are simply spectacular. To fully discover and appreciate all  that Siena offers, one should visit the city for more than a just a day.
